“For nothing and no one in the world would I ever let myself lose you.”

It’s always hard to find the perfect way to start a review, especially when it’s a book you wish you can reread as soon as you finish. Evermore is one of those books for me, which speaks volumes since this wasn’t my first read but actually my second.

I’ve had When Rivals Play on my tbr for so long, at some point it has become one of those books that I don’t remember are actually there, so when I was scrolling through my goodreads tbr this past May, it caught my attention and I decided to start it, especially since the second book had just come out a few days prior. Fast forward two days later : I had read both books and was irrevocably in love with the characters and the series.

B.B. Reid has a way of making you love characters you wouldn’t expect to care about. They’re all flawed, they’re all damaged and they’re all a little bit fucked up. But they just… FIT. As a group of friends and as couples.

I do attribute most of it to the writing and to B.B’s characterization of these people and their stories. I just absolutely couldn’t not love these series. It was just simply impossible!

Now without further ado, let’s talk about the important thing : this novella.

What is this book about?

This book picks up a little bit after the end of the Moth and The Flame. It’s prom season, everyone is excited for it, everyone is planning for it.. except Four. It’s difficult to think about something you’re not planning on attending, especially when your secret boyfriend can’t be on your arm and has to go with his pretend girlfriend. Complicated, right? Well buckle in, because you’re in for a ride.

This novella makes you fall even more in love with Ever and Four’s relationship and their love. As much as Ever is willing to do to protect his best friend, he would go through infinitely more to keep Four. And at no moment does he make you doubt who he loves or who he wants.

"You’ve seen the lengths I went to drive you away. How far do you think I’m willing to go to keep you?.”

I absolutely loved the levels of commitment and love Ever showed for Four in this installment, I just kept wanting more and more. And now I’m just absolutely in love with their relationship.

We also got some glimpses of the other characters, mainly Jamie, who’s very intertwined in this while triangle plus one thing, as he’s irrevocably (but oh so in denial about it) in love with his cousin’s fake girlfriend who so happens to be his ex and his first love.

Jamie has to be my favorite character in this series, he’s for all intent and purposes an asshole at first sight. But that’s absolutely not all there is to him, because once you dig in, once you get to really know him, you realize the asshole behavior is just a façade he uses to protect himself and his heart but he would never hesitate to help and protect the people he cares about. He has a giant heart that he keeps protected behind hook-ups and assholery. Just my type of character!

"Pulling her to me, I nuzzled her neck, inhaling her scent. “I love you, Four.”
The lazy purr she gave had me holding her tighter. “I bet I love you more.”
Lifting my head, I looked into her eyes. “Not fucking possible.”

To conclude all this, I just wanna say this series is absolutely a MUST read and I just cannot fucking wait for Jamie and Barbie’s story.
